How to post music/ speech audio file on your blog

Sensei asked me to show you guys how to do this cus you'll need it later when you post your speech audio file onto your blog.

There's two to do this (that I know how):

1. Put a flash media player on your blog (just like mine) so the audio files will play automatically when someone visits your blog.

2. Upload your file onto the school home directory and post the link on your blog.
Note: You file will not play automatically but people will have to download the file first in order to listen to it.

Method 1.

a. First you need to find a place to host your audio file. The best way to do this for us is to use the UVA home directory.

How to upload your file to the UVA directory
follow the picture :)

1. Click on the home directory icon on your desktop.
2. Type your UVA computing ID after the "\"
3. Type your UVA password (the one you use to check mails, etc.)
4. Click Map Drive Letter. * if the drive is in use, choose another drive.
5. Drag and drop the file into the "public_html" folder.
6. The url for your file will be:

http://people.virginia.edu/~yourcomputingid/filename

Example: mine could be http://people.virginia.edu/~ps5zf/speech01.mp3

b. To play music/audio file directly on your blog, you will need a flash media player. There are many out there that you can use, but the one I use is

http://www.spacelayouts.net/flashmp3player

c. The rest is pretty simple

1. Type in the URL of your audio file that we just created from part a-6

2. Type in the Title of your audio file. *Note: for this particular flash player, you can only use English names. So don't name the file in Japanese otherwise it won't play.

3. Click "generate the code" button and copy the code that's in the box.

4. Go to your blog and click on "create now post" as usual.
5. Click on the "Edit Html" Tab.
6. Paste the code that you just copied from step 3. You're Done!!!!


Method 2 I think it's much easier :)

Note: There's many ways to do this. Many people prefer to use hosting sites like yousendit, megaupload, or sendspace but I think the best way for us is to use the UVA home directory.

1. Upload you file on to the home directory. SEE STEP A OF METHOD 1
2. When you get the URL of the file in the format

http://people.virginia.edu/~yourcomputingid/filename

a. Create a new post as usual and click on the hyper link button.
b. Enter the URL of your file and click OK.
c. Publish your blog. You're DONE!!!!



To download other people's file

1. Right click on the link/url
2. Click "save target as" or "save link as..."
3. Open the saved file
